In the autumn of 2008 the Norwegian consulting company Commitment
has acquired technology and key personnel from Active Knowledge Modeling (AKM). AKM was a key technology provider in the MAPPER project.
Over the past couple of years, AKM has developed modeling methods for knowledge architectures, and a platform for visual prototyping inside the Troux
Architect modeling tool. The technologies have been applied in projects for the oil&gas, automotive, and construction industries in Scandinavia.
This acquisition strengthens the resources and methodologies of Commitment within their key areas of business process management and enterprise architecture. At the same time, AKM brings knowledge about product modeling and design that open new opportunities for Commitment’s customers. Processes for creative design and engineering can achieve significant improvements through a holistic knowledge architecture which looks at processes in connection with products, organizations and infrastructure.
Through collaboration with a leading engineering company, Commitment has already developed a pilot solution, which demonstrate some of the opportunities offered by active knowledge architectures.
Frank Lillehagen, CEO of AKM, and Havard Jorgensen, CTO of AKM, have been hired by Commitment as senior advisors.
